Hello Xconqerer's,

I've completed much work on the Xconq GIS side. Details and tons of screen images within...

Next Release Delayed
Posted by ericm on Saturday, August 06 @ 07:45:57 PDT (17 reads)

I have been quite busy with non-Xconq-related things recently. That is why there has not been a new file release in about 7 weeks. Hopefully there will be one within the next month.

Xconq.org Server Intermittant for Upgrades
Posted by cstevens on Friday, July 22 @ 23:49:24 PDT (13 reads)

This site's availability will be intermittent this weekend as I am upgrading the server. The server should be back in full production on Monday.

Update 7/25/05: Server upgrade went without a hitch with only a few minutes downtime to restart the server. Actually, even rebooting was not strictly necessary!

Progress Report
Posted by ericm on Sunday, July 10 @ 07:09:50 PDT (49 reads)

Work continues on Xconq's AI. Currently the focus is on combat evaluation and choices.

There will probably be another file release on Sourceforge next weekend.

For those who are not aware, the Xconq home page at Sourceforge can serve as an useful starting point for getting to various Xconq-related resources.

Xconq GIS Conversion Comes To Town
Posted by cstevens on Thursday, June 16 @ 21:12:27 PDT (92 reads)

I've completed my application that translates Geographical Information System (GIS) land cover data into Xconq. For review, you may recall the Seattle area GIS model that I worked with linked here.

Here are four screen images after I ran my script against the GIS land cover data, here, here, here, and a large, high quality image for those who don't use crippled operating systems from monopoly software companies here.

Progress Report
Posted by ericm on Sunday, June 05 @ 13:53:50 PDT (38 reads)

Many, many modifications have occurred to the construction and repair code in Xconq the past few weeks. Most of it is behind the scenes, but there is a tangible difference with the AI. In particular, the AI is smarter and more aggressive about colonization in games that make use of it. Some construction of bases also occurs, including in the Default game. This still has room for improvement, but it is progress.

There will probably be a new Sourceforge file release of Xconq next weekend.

Xconq Movie Now Available!
Posted by cstevens on Tuesday, May 31 @ 20:15:03 PDT (35 reads)

If your computer supports Shockwave (most do), you can see Xconq in action through your browser by clicking here.

This movie shows you Xconq's introductory game and gives you a feel for what Xconq is all about.

Xconq has a good number of challenging and engaging scenarios that are fun and have a good amount of strategy thrown in! Everything from Normandy to Middle Earth is available, so give Xconq a try!
